1) It’s August. It’s beautiful. Sunny, high 70s, green grass and trees just beginning to fade out.
2) Suri made me a BLT this morning. It was country French bread beautiful, ripe grape tomatoes, fresh romaine lettuce, and bacon from Vermont Smoke and Cure. Really, other bacon should just call it a day and go home. Also had two cups of fantastically strong Peruvian coffee from Equal Exchange.
3) I get in the car, start the long drive to work, and turn on the radio. Right at that moment, one of the best morning songs in the history of the world begins: “Sir Duke” by Stevie Wonder. It’s a great song under any circumstances, but I’m particularly fond of it because my dad’s old band used to play it at every gig. I have great memories of listening to that song while eating chicken drumettes and drinking Shirley Temples at the wedding receptions of strangers.
